In true MSA tradition, an Ice Breaking + Welcoming BBQ was held last Saturday at the Hawthorn Central Gardens to welcome new and continuing Malaysian students for the new semester. It was a rather pleasant Saturday morning - cool and cloudy - when fellow Malaysians started to fill the BBQ pit area.
There were familiar faces and even more amongst them, new faces as everyone mingled over BBQ-ed sausages and wings, sandwiches, chips and drinks.
It wasn't long before it was time for games. VP Wilson ushered the crowd to the fields and led the group through a favourite childhood musical-chair-ish game loosely translated from Mandarin as When the wind blows.
Hilarity ensued as all of us scrambled around the circle at cue. Punishments were passed down at the slower of us which saw some of us literally tree-hugging and stripping down to singlets.
Then a name-memorising game followed where everyone struggled to recall self-introductions of name and place of origin. By the end of the game, names were effectively carved into the back of our heads.
All games were then wrapped up with the mandatory group photo session, with a proud Malaysian flag to boot!
And that's it, folks! Thank you all for coming! Watch this space for announcements, activities and re-caps!
